Writings
This page has links to various pieces I have written over the years.
Edited Books
I recently edited an anthology; Maturing Leadership. How Adult Development Impacts Leadership. I believe it is the first academic anthology bringing together the broader field of adult development as it applies to leadership.
Integral Education: New Directions for Higher Learning is published by SUNY press. It is an anthology I co-edited with Sean Esbjörn-Hargens and Olen Gunnlaugsen focusing on higher education.
Book Chapters
I wrote a chapter for an anthology exploring extensions and adaptations of Ronald Heifetz’s Adaptive Leadership work. Soul Space for Adaptive Work brings together several strands of my thinking over the years.
One of my favorite book chapters is in The Transforming Leader: New Approaches to Leadership for the Twenty-First Century titled Integral Leadership: Opening Space by Leading through the Heart, published by Berrett-Koehler.
In the Maturing Leadership anthology, I wrote the Introduction, and a chapter (along with Camilla Fikse and Ottar Ness) titled Leadership Development Laboratory.
Along with Olen Gunnlaugson and Juliane Reams, I have a chapter in Leading with Spirit, Presence and Authenticity, the 2014 edition of the International Leadership Association publication series Building Bridges. Our chapter is on Cultivating Leadership through Deep Presencing and Awareness Based Practices and includes both theoretical material as well as stories from client applications.
In the Integral Education anthology, I co-authored the introduction, and did an interview with Sandy Astin.
Igniting Brilliance: Integral Education for the 21st Century is another anthology I have been involved with. I wrote the introduction, co-authored a chapter with Miriam Mason-Martineau on the Value and Importance of Personal Development and contributed a short chapter on Classroom Conversation.
